Why Gynecomastia Surgery May Not Be An Option

For most men with gynecomastia, learning how to lose man breasts is very important. Regardless of how the condition came about, getting rid of male breasts is something you want to do because of the ongoing embarrassment and self humiliation among other reasons.

How To Get Rid Of Man Boobs

In many cases you can get rid of gynecomastia from changing your diet or medications. Then again, in some cases it can be through simple exercises. Finally, surgery can be an alternative for some.

Gynecomastia Surgery

In order to qualify for gynecomastia surgery you'll need the doctor's ok. The doctor will take a look at these issues as well as other:

  • Are you in good health overall?
  • Are you too overweight for surgery? If so, the doctor will put you on a weight loss plan and then consider your surgery.
  • Are you on steroids or drinking excessive amounts of alcohol? If so, the doctor will generally not perform surgery until you stop.

Once you meet the criteria and the doctor determines you are a good candidate for gynecomastia surgery, he will go ahead with the procedure.

It's important to keep in mind that there are some good treatment options out here that you should try before considering surgery. There are always risks with any type of surgery and it is always good to check into other non-surgical options.

What You Should Know About Gynecomastia Liposuction

As an outpatient procedure, gynecomastia liposuction is not a difficult process and is a very common method of eliminating male breasts.

Having this type of gynecomastia surgery done has a few advantages over a more radical type of surgery.

1. The procedure can be done right at the surgeon's office, eliminating a hospital visit.

2. A local anesthetic is used instead of a general anesthetic which can be more risky.

Having this type of male breast reduction will generally take less than 2 hours from the time you arrive until you walk back out.

In some cases where fat deposits are also in the arm pit region or there is a larger amount of fat in the breast area, it could take a little extra time.

Although this is a simple procedure you need to be aware of a few issues:

  • You may be unable to drive home. Have someone with you just in case.
  • You will not be able to work for 3-5 days following gynecomastia liposuction. It will take this amount of time to heal.
  • No heavy lifting for 2-4 weeks after the procedure.

That is really all there is to it. Of course, you'll need to keep in mind the cost of this type of gynecomastia treatment. It will cost a few thousand dollars and is not covered under health insurance.

Although gynecomastia liposuction can be a good surgical option in many cases, there are other options in eliminating man breasts that I would recommend you try before considering any type of surgery.
